Course on Accessible Tourism in Tourist Destinations
OBJECTIVE
To provide professionals in the tourism sector in Onís with tools and knowledge to improve the accessibility conditions of their businesses, as well as to train them in the treatment and care of travelers with accessibility needs.
TARGET
- Businessmen and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector (accommodation, hospitality and providers of active and/or cultural tourism activities or services).
- Priority will be given to people registered in and/or linked to the council of Onís.
- Previous training and/or work experience in the tourism sector will be an asset.
PLACE: Multipurpose Municipal Center “Hnos. Álvarez Marcos” (Benia de Onís).
DATES AND TIMES: March 14, 15 and 16, 2023 Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
DURATION: 24 hours

SELECTION CRITERIA: Entrepreneurs and workers in the tourism sector and links with the council of Onís.
CERTIFICATION: Students will receive a certificate of attendance, for which they must have attended at least 80% of the course hours.

TUESDAY, MARCH 14
Module 1. Making my business accessible (8 hours)
10:00-10:15 Is accessible tourism really a business opportunity?
10:15-11:15 How to make a tourist accommodation inclusive
11:15-12:00 How to create inclusive tourism experiences and tours
12:00- 12:30 Coffee Break
12:30- 14:00 Inclusion in nature. Mountain and sea for all (Aladino Padiella – APTAA Asturias. )
14:00- 15:00 Lunch break
15:00-16:30 Real examples of accessible accommodations (Rosa Gullón – Casa Fandín and María García – Casa Papu Colorau).
16:30-17:00 How to make a restaurant accessible
17:00-18:30 How accessible is my business? Learning to create inclusive spaces and services
18:30-19.00 Practical examples of good practices for inspiration
WEDNESDAY, March 15
Module 2. How to sell more in accessible tourism (8 hours)
10:00-11:30 Inclusive communication, more effective also in tourism
11:30- 12:00 Coffee break
12:00- 13:00 How to make videos and brochures accessible
13:00-14:00 Accessibility errors in web pages
14:00- 15:00 Lunch break
15:00-17:00 Using social networks in an inclusive mode
17:00-18:00 How to make the accessibility section of our resource in our web site
18:00-19:00 How to enter accessibility information in booking platforms
THURSDAY 16 March
Module 3. Human treatment as a key tool for accessibility (8 hours)
10:00-11:30 On-site visit to the Vega de Ario cheese factory and analysis of its accessibility as a person with physical, visual and hearing disabilities (NOTE: The meeting point this day will be the Vega de Ariu cheese factory in Benia de Onís).
11.30-12.00 Return from the Cheese Factory to the classroom as a person with disability
12:00-13:00 Basic guidelines for dealing with people with disabilities
13:00-14:00 Interacting with people with physical disabilities
14:00- 15:00 Lunch break
15:00-16:00 The paradise of the senses (Juan Carlos Menéndez-Kaly adventure)
16:00-17:00 How to interact with people with visual impairment
17:00-18:00 How to interact with people with hearing impairment
18:00-19:00 Interacting with people with intellectual disabilities
